After testing, you get to keep the product. Some companies might express their gratitude for your time and efforts by sending you gift cards or monetary rewards.

The are a wide variety of products available for testing, ranging from electronics, makeup, to chemicals. You can either gain access to product testing via websites that offer product testing opportunities, or you can cooperate directly with the company you want to test products for.

How to Get Paid to Test Products

I have compiled a list of resources you can use to start being a product tester at home, so read on!

1. Vindale Research

Vindale Research is another market research company that pays users to take surveys and provide feedback. Vindale Research also offers opportunities for product testers and secret shoppers. No matter how you want to earn money using Vindale Research, you will need to be at least 18 years of age to be considered a qualified candidate.

Vindale Research claims on their website that you are paid "a flat rate ($1 – $50, depending on difficulty)" for each successful completion of "market surveys, consumer studies, product evaluations, and focus group questionnaires".

One of the great things about Vindale Research is that you don't need to calculate points or rewards like many other similar websites – you simply earn a flat fee that has real monetary value. Once you reach the minimum withdrawal threshold of $50, you can cash out via PayPal.

2. Product Testing USA

Product Testing USA is unique in that it offers some expensive products for you to test (and keep) for free; Xbox, FitBit Versa, iPads, etc. Sounds appealing, yes? However, in exchange for these awesome products, you will need to write a 500-word review paragraph, submit pictures you took of the product, and record a video of yourself giving feedback that is one minute long at the minimum.

The sign up process is different from other websites and a bit more time-consuming. Instead of creating one account to use on the website for every offer, you have to sign up for each product separately. The good news is, auto-fill and/or signing up using your Facebook account may just save you a lot of time signing up every time. Because you don't make any cash or receive gift cards for testing products on the site, the free products you receive for testing act as your payment. But hey, if product testers get to keep a new iPad, I don't think many will complain.

3. Pinecone Research

Pinecone Research is one of the best-paying survey and product testing websites out there. When you start taking surveys on the website, you will receive a minimum of $3 and a maximum of $5 per survey. If you're testing products, you will receive $6 for testing the product in addition to the $3 for taking a survey associated with the product.

Pinecone Research sometimes lets you test unreleased products, or products that have not been sold on the market. After earning points for testing products and taking surveys, you can choose either to cash out via PayPal or a mailed check or to receive gift cards instead. There are many gift cards to choose from on Pinecone Research, including Amazon, Starbucks, Walmart, and even movie vouchers. The good news with Pinecone Research is that there is no minimum withdrawal amount, meaning you can withdraw as little or as much money as you would like.

4. Johnson & Johnson

Johnson & Johnson is one of the most well-known Fortune 500 companies based in the U.S. While Johnson & Johnson is most popular among consumers for their baby products (such as shampoo for baby), they also have a variety of other products like makeup or toothpaste. Now, with the JJ Friends & Neighbors website, you can sign up to be a paid product tester for Johnson & Johnson.

After signing up on Friends & Neighbors, you'll receive invitations to participate in product testing, online surveys, and more. If you want to test a product, one will be sent to you and you will be asked to fill out a survey after using it to tell Johnson & Johnson about your experience and feedback.

While you can get paid anywhere from $5 to $250 for each product you test, it is more common (and realistic) to receive between $10 to $20 each time you participate. While there are not many surveys for you to take, you might get more surveys if you fit the demographic Johnson & Johnson is looking for. But hey, at least they won't flood your inbox with surveys you don't even qualify for.

5. Product Report Card

Most commonly, you get paid on Product Report Card for taking surveys. Each survey pays anywhere from $0.25 to $5, with (very) rare ones paying $10 as they are more in-depth and extensive. Additionally, there are some opportunities for product testing on the website. When you become a product tester, you will be asked to take a survey after using the product and can earn as much as $200.

The minimum withdrawal amount on Product Report Card is $25. After reaching this threshold, you can either cash out via PayPal or receive gift cards, most popularly Amazon gift cards. Amazon gift cards tend to get issued faster as sometimes they are sent directly from Amazon as a promotion code.

6. BzzAgent

BzzAgent sets out to find product testers, referred to as BzzAgents, to test products and help the company increase user awareness of the product through word of mouth. BzzAgent is unique in that it often asks you to share the product on your social media page to spread product awareness to people you know. In some cases, BzzAgent will ask you to share a photo of the product on your social media account(s) and write some feedback regarding the product you tested.

As you complete assigned tasks' milestones, you are rewarded with points called MyPoints. While most of the time BzzAgent will pay you with items and products, you can exchange your points for cash via PayPal.

7. Toluna Influencer panel

While other websites may offer surveys of questions on topics you're not interested in, making it boring (and sometimes painful) to take paid surveys, Toluna allows you to pick the categories you want. Before taking a survey, Toluna shows you exactly how many points you will earn upon completion. This way, you don't have to wonder how many points you'll get until you've completed a survey.

The broader your selected categories are, the more surveys you'll likely get. However, you will not be qualified for all of the surveys recommended to you as companies often look for a specific demographic. The good news is, if you are disqualified for a survey, Toluna will let you know immediately after you click on it. Some websites won't let you know until you've answer many questions or even completed a survey; at that point, you've wasted your time and energy for nothing.

Every 3,000 points will earn you $1. To be realistic, you can expect to earn $1 or less per hour you spend on Toluna. After you have accumulated 30,000 points, you can cash out via PayPal or receive a mailed check, or choose to receive gift cards instead.

8. SheSpeaks

SheSpeaks is a website that gives a voice to women who participate in product testing. The products and services SheSpeaks offer often have consumers who are women. Thus, companies that partner with SheSpeaks often have women as the primary demographic target.

The downside to SheSpeaks? While the idea of empowering women's opinions and reviews is admirable, many users state that SheSpeaks does not offer many surveys or products to be tested. Moreover, SheSpeaks offers items and products instead of cash or gift cards as rewards, thus leaving product testers with limited choice when selecting their rewards. Sometimes, your reward is the product you tested. Because of this, there is an element of luck involved when it comes to which reward a product tester will get.

9. Prize Rebel

Prize Rebel is comparable to websites such as Survey Junkie, Inbox Dollars, and Swagbucks. Most people who come to Prize Rebel earn cash or gift cards by accumulating points. Each point on Prize Rebel equals to $0.01. Some opportunities require testing a new product; in this case, Prize Rebel will send you the product for free and ask for your feedback after you have tested it.

When you first join Prize Rebel, your membership starts at the Bronze level. As you complete more and more surveys and tasks, your referral percentage will go up as well as your points bonus. Once you reach the Gold membership, which requires 4,500 points, you will have automatic prize processing. This means you will receive your prize immediately after completing your task, which is extremely fast compared to many other similar websites.

10. Valued Opinions

Valued Opinions offers paid surveys in 15 different languages, making the website more accessible to people whose primary language is not English. There is a variety of surveys on the website, ranging from cultural trends to video games. Of course, to remain pertinent to the article's title, Valued Opinions also offers product testing and it tends to earn you more money than other activities.

User reviews tend to say that surveys on Valued Opinions can be entertaining to complete. Longer surveys (which can take up to 5 hours!) also tend to compensate users well for their time. However, instead of having the option to cash out via PayPal like many other similar websites, you can only redeem your points for gift cards. While the minimum withdrawal threshold is $10, a $10 gift card often doesn't offer you popular brands. If you make $20 or more, you can redeem your points for more popular brands/stores' gift cards such as Amazon gift cards.

11. American Consumer Opinion

American Consumer Opinion offers you a chance to make extra money by taking surveys and evaluating both existing and new products. For each survey or valuation you complete, you will receive a certain number of points. Short surveys (less than or equal to 20 questions) can earn you between 5 to 50 points. Those that are longer (more than 20 questions) can earn you as much as 5,000 points. Considering that one point equals to $0.01, 5,000 points will be converted to $50. However, longer surveys that pay this well are often rare, so to be realistic, you can expect to earn between 5 to 100 points per survey.

After you have earned a minimum of $10, or 1,000 points, you can choose to either cash out or purchase a Visa gift card. You will have two options for cashing out: receiving money via PayPal or a mailed check.

12. i-Say

i-Say is owned by Ipsos, a market research company that is ranked among the top 5 global market research companies by revenue. The easiest and most common way to earn some extra cash on i-Say is by taking surveys. i-Say will also send products for you to test and review, assuming you are qualified.

Each survey or review you complete on i-Say will earn you between 45 to 90 points, to be realistic. Each point equals to $0.01. If you want to cash out, you will need to accumulate a minimum of 1,530 points, or $15.3. Transfers made via PayPal may take up to 4 weeks to complete. Alternatively, you can choose to redeem you points for Visa gift cards in exchange for a minimum of 1,000 points ($10).

13. Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is one of the most popular sites for paid surveys. Companies use Survey Junkie as a platform where they can conduct market research by reaching out to consumers (that's you!) and asking for their feedback.

After signing up on Survey Junkie, you can start taking surveys to earn points. Since some surveys fall in the category of product testing or product opinion, Survey Junkie sometimes will also let you test products in exchange for points. Oftentimes, you will be asked to take a survey after testing a product so the company that sent you the product can receive in-depth feedback.

A survey on Survey Junkie can last between 20 to 40 minutes. Each survey may offer anywhere from 10 to 200 points, depending how its length and how in-depth it is. In order to cash out or convert your points to gift cards, you will need a minimum of $10, or 1000 points. If you want to receive money instead of gift cards, you will need a PayPal account and each transfer will cost about 3% of your total reward money.

14. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is another popular website that is quite similar to Survey Junkie. Swagbucks also provides a platform for companies to conduct market research by receiving feedback directly from consumers while paying consumers for providing such feedback. While you can take surveys to earn points (which are also called Swagbucks), you can also become a product tester and receive free products.

When you test products, companies may require a specific usage amount or ask you to do specific things. For example, if you're testing a vacuum, you might need to use the vacuum a certain number of times before providing your feedback.

After earning Swagbucks on the website, you can start withdrawing your money once you hit the $25 withdrawal limit via PayPal. If you would rather receive gift cards, Swagbucks offer gift cards for popular websites/stores such as Amazon, Walmart, and Target.

15. Inbox Dollars

InboxDollars says exactly what they will pay you in dollars. Many other sites using points which you may need to convert.

Inbox Dollars offers to pay you for testing services and products. The great thing about using Inbox Dollars is that, on each offer, you can see exactly how much you are going to earn by signing up to use/test a service or product. For example, opening a bank account with North One can earn you $75, while getting a shaving starter kit will earn you $6.

Similar to the previous websites mentioned, you will most likely need to take a quick survey to earn that money. After all, companies are trying to get your feedback, and how else will they do so beside collecting your opinion via surveys?

When you first create an account, Inbox Dollars will credit your account with $5. While that sounds like a great free $5, you can't cash out your money until you reach the minimum withdrawal threshold of $30.

Is Product Testing Worth It?

Paid product testing will not be able to replace a job. Depending on which website or company you test for, the process of providing feedback may simply be filling out a short survey or have more extensive requirements. Sometimes, you get paid for testing products by getting to keep the free products. While this might not sound very exciting if you're thinking of things like toothpaste and soap, some products you get to keep are expensive (and worth going through the feedback process for), such as high-end makeup products or electronics.

Depending on which website or company you test products for, how extensive your feedback process is, and the amount of usage, you may get paid only few cents or over $100. Product testing opportunities are relatively few, so you might only get a couple offers a month.
